salt water

out there just beyond the outer edge, hunting in the void of noise, is where i expand to dare, against my instinct to shrivel up and blow away. then:

i think of the ocean days, days we slowed time together. for each other.

smelling the air deeply into our lungs the mist, salt water, absorbed into our marrow.

we did not look for beauty elsewhere. we waited to see.
