woah, that feels weird. really really weird.
i was published once as a child; a teacher submitted a poem of mine. but as a younger adult (an adult creature), i have never submitted work for publication consideration before, and only shared my work in writer’s circles and with close family. tonight, my inner writer just shouted: DO IT ALREADY JESSEE. so, i put together a small collection of my most recent work and submitted the chosen four poems to the SOU Student Press for their Volume 2, Essential Oil.
i am passed some imaginary mindfuck of being unworthy as a poet. i am moving toward that title of Writer; or at least, i have made a move toward the entire goal of my studio practice class: publishing.
i do write now, each day. and sometimes i find myself editing too (this is magick). it is come time to seek that hailed and worshiped space of publication, amongst so many writers i love to read.
if you are interested in submitting to the SOU Student Press, you can find the guidelines here. submissions for Vol.2: Essential Oil close June 1st.
